Girl Clan (“Girl Clan”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, store, and protect your information when you use the Girl Clan mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).

Girl Clan is a female-focused social and events platform designed to help women connect with one another, discover local events, create communities, attend gatherings, and communicate safely within the app. Because Girl Clan involves social interaction, location-based discovery, messaging, and user-generated content, we recognise the importance of transparency, safety, and responsible data handling.

This Privacy Policy has been prepared in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), the Irish Data Protection Act 2018, and applicable European Union privacy and consumer protection laws. By using Girl Clan, you confirm that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and agree to the collection and use of your information as described below.

Girl Clan is intended strictly for adults aged 18 years and over. By creating an account or using the Services, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 18. If we become aware that an underage individual has created an account or provided personal information, we reserve the right to suspend or permanently remove the account and associated data.

When you create an account with Girl Clan, we may collect personal information including your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, profile photographs, account details, and any information you choose to include within your profile. We also collect information relating to your participation in events, your interactions with other users, your messages, uploaded photographs or videos, and any content you voluntarily share through the Services.

Because Girl Clan is designed around local discovery and nearby communities, location data is an important part of how the platform functions. We use location information to help users discover nearby events, connect with women in relevant geographic areas, receive notifications relating to local gatherings, and improve the relevance of recommendations within the app. Location access is considered a core feature of the Services. Without location permissions enabled, certain parts of the platform may not function correctly or may become unavailable. Girl Clan does not use location data for unrelated surveillance purposes and does not sell location information to advertisers.

If you choose to sign in using Apple or Google authentication services, we may receive certain information associated with your account from those providers, such as your name, email address, profile image, and account identifier. Your use of Apple or Google login services is also subject to their own privacy policies and terms.

Girl Clan offers subscription services which may be purchased through Apple In-App Purchases. All payments and subscription billing are processed directly by Apple. Girl Clan does not collect, process, or store payment card information, banking details, or financial account information. Apple may process payment-related information in accordance with Apple’s own terms, privacy policies, and billing practices.

In addition to the information you actively provide, we may automatically collect certain technical and usage-related information when you use the Services. This may include your device type, operating system, app version, IP address, device identifiers, crash reports, diagnostic information, usage statistics, interaction history, and push notification tokens. This information helps us maintain app stability, improve performance, prevent abuse, and enhance the overall user experience.

Girl Clan uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand app performance, diagnose technical problems, monitor crashes, improve functionality, and better understand how users interact with the platform. These tools may collect technical and device-related information in accordance with Google’s privacy practices and applicable data protection laws.

We use your personal data to operate, maintain, improve, and secure the Services. This includes creating and managing user accounts, enabling social and messaging features, facilitating event participation, personalising user experiences, providing customer support, improving safety measures, preventing fraud or misuse, and enforcing our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. We may also use information to improve recommendation systems, enhance local event discovery, analyse trends, and develop new features.

Girl Clan may send service-related notifications, including account alerts, security notices, event reminders, nearby event notifications, social interaction updates, and important administrative communications. We may also send newsletters, promotional emails, marketing communications, and promotional push notifications relating to new features, events, partnerships, or community activities. Users may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link contained in those communications or by contacting us directly. Push notification preferences may also be managed through your device settings.

Under GDPR, we process personal data on several lawful bases. In many cases, processing is necessary to provide the Services requested by users and to fulfil our contractual obligations. We also process certain information based on our legitimate interests, including maintaining platform security, preventing abuse, improving services, moderating content, analysing performance, and protecting the safety of the Girl Clan community. In some situations, processing may rely on user consent, particularly in relation to optional communications, permissions, or marketing activities. We may also process personal data where necessary to comply with legal obligations.

Girl Clan contains social and community features that allow users to create events, upload photographs and videos, participate in discussions, send messages, and share user-generated content. Any information or content voluntarily shared through these features may become visible to other users depending on the functionality of the platform and the privacy settings available at the time. Users remain responsible for the content they choose to share and should avoid posting sensitive or confidential information publicly.

To maintain a respectful and safe environment, Girl Clan reserves the right to monitor, review, moderate, restrict, remove, or delete content that violates our Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, or applicable laws. We may also investigate reports relating to harassment, abuse, inappropriate conduct, fraudulent activity, or safety concerns. In certain circumstances, we may access communications or user-generated content where reasonably necessary to protect users, enforce platform rules, investigate complaints, prevent harm, or comply with legal obligations.

We may share personal data with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the Services, including providers relating to analytics, hosting, authentication, notifications, customer support, infrastructure, and app functionality. Users may delete their Girl Clan account directly within the app at any time. Certain information may remain temporarily stored in backups, security systems, or moderation records where necessary to protect the integrity and safety of the platform.

Users also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission if they believe their personal data has been processed unlawfully.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or security of third-party platforms and encourage users to review their respective privacy policies independently.
